For the most part, I thought this was pretty epic and kind of funny. This time Youtube sensation Freddie Wong and actor Andy Whitfield team up to take out the bad guys Time Crisis style.
So here is the teaser to a new Rockman/Mega Man game that’s apparently only available in Korea. All I am able to gather is that this game appears to mix classic Mega Man characters with Mega Man X characters. But seriously, why is this exclusive to South Korea only though O_o?
Considering the original plans for today didn’t pan out, I ended up taking the time to visit the local theater. There I finally got to see the epic of epic epicness that is Scott Pilgrim VS The World. As I’ve stated many times, I don’t really care for Michael Cera. I mean I don’t hate the guy, I just cannot find any reason to be interested in his previous movie. But oddly enough he works for me in this role. Scott Pilgrim VS The World is a movie that shows the exploits of a 22 year old Canadian named Scott Pilgrim. He’s in between jobs and is the bassist for a band named Sex Bob-Omb. Scott also has some odd living arrangements with his gay roommate Wallace. During the course of the film Scott falls in love with a girl named Ramona Flowers and begins to pursue her. This leads to him having to deal with her seven evil exes to be with her. Which is a wild and exciting spectacle to behold.
The movie prides itself in it’s offbeat humor and awkward dialogue. Which help set up the tone for the film and help make the interactions between the characters that more awesome. Another thing this movie does well is it’s effects and visuals that help keep the comic book and video game like feel of the graphic novel. As a nerd and video game lover, this film just spoke to me with all it’s little video game references it threw out there. Such as Scott performing a shoryuken on Matthew Patel or the usage of music from the Legend Of Zelda and other games in various parts. This comic book/video game look really made this film seem unique and a totally nerd’s fantasy come to life. Also I liked the rock and roll aspects of the film as well. Which the plot also centered around Scott and his band, but not as much as the stylized battles between Scott and the evil exes.
Scott Pilgrim is delightful and humorous movie sure to please anyone who grew up in the Nintendo generation. It effectively mashes several genres, ideas, and characters into a decently paced film. All the actors do a good job with their roles. While I can easily say that Kieran Culkin does an amazingly hilarious job as Wallace Wells. I mean they all their moments but his character just seemed to put himself out there more. Although, Brandon Routh has some great moments as well. Also, is it just me or was Knives Chau just creepy as hell? I mean sure she’s Asian and kind of cute, but when she got real strange and creepy once Scott dumped her. Although she was humorous when in her giddy fan girl phase and I laughed real hard when she had her shocked “anime” facial expression moment. All in this a movie that all our inner and outer nerds will love. I am in lesbians with this movie.
Capcom has officially announced the inclusion of Dormammu and Viewtiful Joe in Marvel VS Capcom and have released some screen shots featuring the characters. So who’s excited for the inclusion of the Lord of Chaos and Mr. Henshin-a-go-go?
