Ami Tokito is a Japanese pop singer, gravure model, and talent. She made her gravure debut after wining the Miss Magazine 2005 Tsuku Prize. In terms of her modeling, she seems to have gained notoriety due to her glasses. While many gravure models do wear glasses behind the cameras, few wear them in front of the camera. The only times they would wear glasses while modeling would be for either candid shots or cosplay. Ami on the other hand has the distinction of being rarely ever seen without glasses. Due to this, she is known as a “megadol” or “megane idol” with megane being the Japanese word for eyeglasses. Thus, it is the fact she is a “meganekko” or “glasses girl” that makes her appeal to many otaku. This has even gone as far as Ami releasing her own line of eyeglasses.
