Personally I still don’t believe it, but apparently Chiaki Kuriyama is now a pop singer in Japan. You know, the girl who played Gogo Yubari in Kill Bill. Yeah, that girl O_o. Oddly enough, this song is also the ending theme to Gundam Unicorn. Which maybe the weirdest Gundam series name I’ve ever heard.

Ami Tokito

Nickname: Amimi
Stage Name: Ami Tokito, 時東ぁみ
Birthdate: September 25th, 1987
Birthplace: Tokyo, Japan
Blood Type: O
Height: 153cm

Ami Tokito is a Japanese pop singer, gravure model, and talent. She made her gravure debut after wining the Miss Magazine 2005 Tsuku Prize. In terms of her modeling, she seems to have gained notoriety due to her glasses. While many gravure models do wear glasses behind the cameras, few wear them in front of the camera. The only times they would wear glasses while modeling would be for either candid shots or cosplay. Ami on the other hand has the distinction of being rarely ever seen without glasses. Due to this, she is known as a “megadol” or “megane idol” with megane being the Japanese word for eyeglasses. Thus, it is the fact she is a “meganekko” or “glasses girl” that makes her appeal to many otaku. This has even gone as far as Ami releasing her own line of eyeglasses. All of this might be a weird thing to be known for, since some sources say her eyesight is perfectly fine.

Perfume On American Dad

So according to American Dad Monochrome Effect by Perfume equals Japanese funk. This marks Perfume’s introduction to America, and makes a very weird song selection by Seth McFarlane to use. Not that the song is bad, but it’s somewhat dated and such an obscure reference to make. I wonder if Nocchi, A-Chan, and Kashiyuka know about this. My mind is totally blown.

Music Television Is Dead And Has Been For Years

MTV logo

So it has come to my attention that MTV has finally dropped Music Television from its logo. The network, which has historically revolutionized the music video and effectively killed the radio star, has chosen to follow a new path. They now are choosing to direct efforts to market the channel to its largely teen demographic. Teens who tune in to the channels current programming such as Teen Mom, Jersey Shore, and whatever the hell season of the Real World is on right now. This is a stunning blow as the network puts the final nail of the coffin of it’s music revolution.

But am I surprised? Not at all. The channel for years has focused less and less on actual music or music based programing. Hell I don’t even remember the last time you could turn to the channel and see music videos. So I really could see a move like this coming. But why? What made them chose to spit in the face of their legacy? Most likely its probably money, but this just kind of goes against the channels mantra. So people, enjoy your Guidos and emotional teenage parents as we say goodbye to music television. But hey, they still have Kurt Loder. I have no idea why, but they do. R.I.P. Music Television (1981-2010).

Fall Out Boy

Well, not exactly to say the least. Though the future of the band is in a bit of a pickle, as the boys have a bit of a falling out. So on Tuesday, during an interview with SPIN.com Patrick Stump said:

“I’m not in Fall Out Boy right now, but one way or another, the band will always be around. Steven Tyler isn’t in Aerosmith anymore, but his gravestone will probably say something about Aerosmith. Whether we play again or not, I don’t know. If we do, it will be for the right reasons. If we don’t, it will also be for the right reasons.” These words of sparked a twitter/internet fury of rampant speculation of the future of the band.
