Gaia Online O_o?

Hey Lucky Ones,
So I was talking to my friend Andrew the other day and I told him about my Crazy Go Lucky Halloween contest. I was telling him how maybe he should tell his sister since she’s a cosplayer and this might interest her. He tells instead that maybe I should go post this contest on a cosplay/anime forum directly. One forum he tells me to try out is Gaia Online. For you guys that don’t know what that is here is a wikipedia description of it:
“Gaia Online is an English-language, anime-themed social networking and forums-based website. Originally named “Go-Gaia.com”, the website was changed to gaiaonline.com on February 18, 2003 by its owner, Gaia Interactive. Gaia originally began as an anime linklist and eventually developed a small community, but, following a statement by founder Derek Liu (username “Lanzer”), the website moved towards social gaming. It eventually became the forum-based website it is now. Today, over a million posts are made daily and it is visited by 7 million unique users each month. Gaia also won the 2007 Webware 100 award in the Community category.
Users of the site, known as Gaians, create a customizable avatar and a customizable virtual home for which they can purchase items using what is called gold. This is given to users after playing games or posting inside the forums; the site also rewards users every day with random gold or items with the Daily Chance. In July 2007, Gaia released Gaia Cash that can be bought at Rite Aid, Wal-Mart, Target stores, 7-11, Speedway SuperAmerica, or directly from Gaia itself.” – Wikipedia.com
So I sign up, make my little anime looking avatar, and go on the forums. Make a couple of posts on there about the contest and the company in general. So far this thread has gotten the most reaction out of them so far.

Who knew anime fans were so condescending O_o? I mean it’s not like I can’t handle criticism, it’s just a lot of their comments provide no insight for me to grow on. All I have come to understand is they seem to have this kind of elitist stance and really bad take on stuff that doesn’t fit into this little anime world of theirs that they dwell in(or as Andrew says, “they’re cut off from reality, are fat, and take blurry pictures in dark rooms.”). I mean if they actually gave me reasons on why the designs were bad and why the site is fail(I know one person said 1 shirt = fail but that I already know). I mean comments like “this shirt is hideous” does not tell me what I need to work on. Also who cares what my avatar or sn is? Are they really that judgmental on such trivial things like that? Ok sure my sn on there is the same as the company but this was an idea my friend James said on the Concept In Motion forum back in the day. I dunno, maybe some of these guys are right. They just haven’t really done anything to prove their point. Watch, they’re so going to find this blog and flame me even more. That would be loads of fun.
